Anyone who’s attended or shown an interest in HANG North in the past, will know what an amazing event this is. We’re pleased to be able to tell you that by popular demand we’ll be holding another HANG North this year at Newark Air Museum on Thursday 12th October. The format will be the same as in previous years. Arrive any time after 10.00. Inspect the museum and those aircraft which are open or just talk to old pals until 12.00 when we’ll be having a buffet lunch under the Varsity. Talks will begin at 13.00 and go on until about 17.00 with comfort breaks between talks. Newark Air Museum is close to an A1 turn off, and to Newark Railway Stations. There is a bus, but the taxi fare from Newark is less than £10, and we’ve always managed to provide lifts back to the station afterwards. There are plenty of free parking spaces for those arriving by car. The food and drinks provided and served throughout the day by the museums catering department is always of an extremely high standard.

The theme for this year’s HANG North is ‘Developments in Air Navigation 1945-75’. Norman Bonnor will set the scene with a General Overview; David Broughton will discuss Omega and LORAN; Gordon Dyer will discuss his many years at Boscombe Down; Bill Tyack will discus the Maritime Scene; Stephen Hogarth will discuss the use of Decca in Civil Helicopter Operations in the North Sea and Around the World, and test pilot Tim Allen, will discuss 'Early Inertial Systems in FGA aircraft'.

All this and we’re determined to keep the price at £25pp as in previous years. There’ll also be a raffle in aid of our youth engagement activities. This event will probably have to be restricted to 40 delegates, so please book and pay early though emids@RIN.org.uk to avoid disappointment. The easiest way to pay is by internet banking to The Royal Institute of Navigation 40-51-62 Account No: 304 165 02. Please reference it HANGN plus your surname. Please also email emids@RIN.org.uk and accounts@rin.org.uk so we can record your payment. Booked places are only secure when payment is received.

One final thought, please don’t confuse this event with the HANG (South) event at Goodwood Valdoe in September, which will also be very good.
