New GNSS chip
A new minute receiver for both GPS and GLONASS has been launched.
The Quectel L76 provides simultaneous GPS and GLONASS open service L1 reception, with 33 tracking channels, 99 acquisition channels and 210 PRN (satellite ident) channels - and can acquire and track any mix of GPS and GLONASS signals.
The manufacturer explains that, compared with using GPS only, enabling both GPS and GLONASS generally doubles the number of visible satellites, reduces time-to-first-fix (TTFF) and increases accuracy - especially in urban environments.
The receiver is designed for automotive, industrial PDA, consumer and industry applications. An additional feature is an embedded flash memory logger - default intervals are 15 secs, providing typically >16 hours log capacity.
Other details include:
- size 10.1 x 9.7 x 2.5 mm
- low tracking power consumption of 18mA
- high sensitivity of -163dBm tracking, -148dBm acquisition
- support of differential augmentation:
