Euro Satnav Competition winners

German start-up company KINEXON GmbH has won the 10th European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC).

The overall winner - 'Galileo Master 2013' - has produced a precise tracking & monitoring solution for sports and healthcare, using a cloud-based solution for analysing and visualising training data on mobile devices.

The KINEXON 'CELL' is a wearable sensor that uses GNSS to track the positions of individuals and objects with centimetric accuracy. The corresponding KINEXON 'AP' is a secure cloud-computing platform with a smart analytics application.

These transform big sensor data into valuable information in real time. The first product is a portable, cloud-based athlete monitoring system designed for all types of sports, from football to tennis. A tablet PC provides coaches with real-time insights into the performance, tactics, technique and health of athletes and teams - it is claimed that they can measure, analyse and improve athletes’ performance to reach their full potential.

And dedicated statistics can help prevent injuries and support any rehabilitation process. Users access their data from any smartphone, tablet or PC. The system’s flexible and scalable architecture ensures quick adaptation to other uses.

In this 10th anniversary year, ESNC received a remarkable 413 complete submissions from teams with a total of 1,200 participants in almost 50 countries. And in the last decade, judges have selected and rewarded 204 winners from 2,397 ideas submitted by a total of 8,200 participants.

Manage Places won the UK regional prize with their idea for a location-based project management tool. For a complete list of winners, see the link below.
