Where the Rocks Aren’t – How Good are our Charts?

The Scottish Branch enjoyed an evening of rock-hopping, presented by Norman Kean FRIN, Editor of the Irish Cruising Club’s Sailing Directions

Norman took us on a tour of the Irish coast, noting the limitations of small scale charts. He then moved on to Star Wars and illicit stills, via harbours with a crack in the rocks which your keel might fit through, and tricky channels with a few metres to spare on either side. The audience included several serious yachting rockhoppers, and the evening was very much appreciated.
