Lt Nottingham was awarded the Royal Institute of Navigation Trophy as the top student in guidance subjects. Air Cdre Norman Bonnor, a past-President of the Institute and a graduate of the last Specialist Navigation Course (the predecessor of the Aerosystems Course) in 1967, presented the RIN Trophy - a beautifully-mounted astro-compass - and handed all graduates invitations for a period of Guest Membership of the Institute. A description of the Trophy may be downloaded below.
James Nottingham is posted to Rotary Wing Test and Evaluation Suadron at MOD Boscombe Down as is John Allan. Postings of the other UK service graduates include 3 to 56(R) Squadron at RAF Waddington, one to Air Platform Protection T&E Sqn (APP TES), RAF Waddington, and one to Typhoon Mission Support Centre (Ty MSC), RAF Coningsby. The 2 Australian graduates are returning to trials posts in Australia. All the graduates will thus be putting their recently acquired qualification to very good use.
We congratulate all the graduates - especially the Navigation Trophy winner - on their achievements and wish them well in their future assignments.
