Solent Branch Visit to ASV Unmanned Marine Systems

The visit is limited to a maximum of 20 RIN members (ie no guests) and prior registration is required.

I WILL BRING SAFETY SHOES/BOOTS - can you email with your response or you can bring both just in case.

The prospect of unmanned vessels is a challenging one that holds out exciting opportunities for many areas in the marine environment. This is an opportunity to visit a company at the forefront of this new technology.

This visit was originally suggested by our former branch secretary, the late Mike Highwood and is therefore by way of a tribute to his enthusiasm for our branch activities. Mike recently called to say that from his lounge window he was observing an ASV Unmanned Marine System vessel on trial in the Solent.

There will be an opportunity to visit their Mission Control. Safety shoes or boots are required to enter the workshop and those who have their own should bring them and indicate this in their registration, as there will be a limited supply on the day. Those unable to enter the workshop will be able to observe from the workshop entrance.

The company website can be found at:

ARRIVAL INFORMATION: Please park in the Long Term Car Park in Aston Court, off Castle Street  (PO16 9PT) - about a 5 min walk, or come by train to Portchester Station, also a 5 min walk.
