This lecture will be presented by Simon Evans, Head of Business Development for Defence and Security, Hybrid Air Vehicles, on Tuesday 7th April at 7.30PM.

The lecture will be preceded by a short AGM at 7.00PM and light snacks and socialising from 6.30PM

Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) Ltd is a UK-based company which has been in existence for ten years. It is focussed on the development, design, certification, manufacture and production of Hybrid Aircraft, a game-changing aviation technology based on the Lighter-than-Air concept.

Since May 2016 HAV has been flying the pre-production standard of the Airlander 10 variant with the aim of gathering sufficient data to achieve a type certification under EASA. HAV has been developing strong interest from the civil, defence and security sectors of the aviation market and was planning to use the pre-production aircraft to deliver capability demonstrations as a major foundation of company strategy.

On the day following a successful flight on 17th November 2017 the aircraft was involved in a significant ground incident which resulted in severe damage. This has effectively ended the availability of the aircraft to continue with capability demonstrations. The company maintains its resilience and continues with its primary objectives of producing a type-certified aircraft and to manufacture and deliver aircraft to a market estimated to be worth over $50bn. The presentation will describe as far as commercially feasible the new approach being taken to deliver this capability to the market.

Entry is free, but it is customary for delegates to but a £2 strip of raffle tickets for our ‘draw on the night’ raffle.
