The RNLI - from the inside looking out
Paul Bossier will give an insider’s view of the RNLI; speaking about some of the challenges and some of the quirks, and how this extraordinary complex of volunteer lifesaving units is run, trained and supported. He will also tell a few stories about the people and the rescues that have taken place on his watch.
Paul has spent a great deal of his life on or around the water, or in the company of seafarers. He has seen the sea in many of its moods, and travelled much of the world by water from the Arctic to Cape Horn. An enthusiastic leisure sailor as well as a professional navigator, Paul left the Royal Navy 10 years ago and has spent the last decade in his dream job, as Chief Executive of the RNLI. In this role, he was privileged to spend a lot of time in the company of the men and women who volunteer to crew and to operate the lifeboats - some of the most admirable people that he has ever worked with.
