Act when disruptions occur

Step 2

Take planned steps to preserve essential levels of safety, security, and economic well being

During the "Act" phase, organisations must respond swiftly and effectively to PNT disruptions using the pre-developed mitigation strategies from the “Prepare” stage of this guidance. Senior leaders must ensure that these plans are comprehensive, clearly communicated, and rehearsed. The key objective here is to implement the right response actions to safeguard operations, prevent cascading failures, and minimise potential negative impacts on safety, security, and economic well being.

With a disruption event underway, as time passes and the length of the disruption increases the plans may call for different responses and actions.

Where necessary, deploy incident response teams to ensure mitigation plans are being quickly and effectively implemented. Ensure that specialised incident response teams are trained and ready to deploy if the disruption requires on-site intervention. This may include technical teams capable of adapting to the threat in real time if it is not adequately covered by the existing mitigation plans. Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services required if the disruption affects public safety or directly impacts critical infrastructure.
