Statement from the UKHO:

UK Safety of Navigation Committee

The UKHO is intending to change its supply of the NM weekly to be online only. The bulletin will be available free of charge on the UKHO Website and FTP sites. Printed copies will remain available from ADMIRALTY Value Added Resellers.

UKSON Committee is requested to note and provide feedback.

We anticipate that the final UKHO printed version will be at the end of September 2019.
Announcements will be made within the publication.
All recipients of the printed NM weekly who are supplied directly by UKHO will be notified through an insert.

The NM weekly collates changes for each NM week for paper-based ADMIRALTY charts and publications and also provides service news of digital charting products. It is currently available in hard copy, at a cost, and free of charge online on the UKHO website.

There is a continuing decline in the numbers of printed copies required by both our commercial distributors and non-commercial customers including defence. Volumes indicate few ships navigating with paper charts are using the UKHO supplied printed NM weekly.

Both the continued decline in paper chart sales and take-up of the UKHO Print On Demand service are expected to accelerate this decline as charts are printed up to date and are not updated by distributors before sale.
