The Mayflower Autonomous Ship (MAS), an AI and solar powered marine research vessel, was launched form Plymouth on 16 September. The vessel from ProMare and IBM will navigate oceans to collect environmental data.
The MAS was designed and built
over the course of two years. The vessel is a fully autonomous trimaran that was designed to facilitate data collection in a safe, flexible and cost-effective way. The data that Mas will collect will contribute to research in areas such as global,
micro-plastic pollution and marine mammal conservation.
