This special fund has been created to honour the memory of Professor David Last.

Professor Last delivered many memorable talks at navigation meetings and conferences. This fund will therefore enable student participation in, and presenting at, navigation conferences and symposia. As such, the application of donations to the fund are very well aligned with what many remember Prof Last for best: informing, educating, persuading an audience, always with his trademark easy, informed and warmly humorous style.

All donations will be held by the Royal Institute of Navigation as "restricted funds". This means that 100% of donations are held for the sole purpose of delivering the purpose of this fund. 

This fund has, so far, received pledges of more than £19k. 

The aim of the fund is to raise £50k. This would enable £5k to be applied each year over a 10 year period to support student participation as outlined above.
