Navigating Spaces

The sense of direction: science meets industry

Join us to learn how emerging findings from the study of spatial orientation in animals and humans may help solve practical problems of human navigation in a joint initiative between University College London and the Royal Institute of Navigation.

How the mind/brain works impacts how people navigate in cities: this conference will enable exchanges of information, ideas and needs in urban design between researchers, users and industry
The one-day meeting comprises talks from academics and industry, morning and afternoon panel discussions and a poster session/reception in the evening

• How animals orient – perspectives from ethology and neuroscience
• How humans orient – perspectives from cognitive neuroscience
• Helping humans orient – perspectives from architecture and design
• The future – building a more navigable world
