Single-handed circumnavigation of the Arctic Circle by Ella Hibbert is the subject of the 2026 annual RIN SCG/Little Ship Club Joint Hybrid Meeting.
In the summer of 2025, Ella embarked on her attempt of the first ever single-handed circumnavigation of the Arctic circle. Ella aimed to raise awareness of Arctic sea ice decline and climate change within the Arctic circle - showcasing and documenting it during her voyage.
Ella’s talk will discuss the challenges she faced en route during the first half of her intrepid adventure, when she became the first British woman to sail solo through the Northwest Passage. Her talk will also cover the challenges still to come when she returns to the Arctic in 2026 to complete her full circumnavigation.
Ella Hibbert is a 29 year old RYA Yachtmaster Instructor. Raised between England and France, Ella has always been passionate about the ocean and is also a PADI Divemaster.
IN PERSON EVENT There is no charge for RIN and LSC members to attend the actual talk and prior booking is not required for this. Members should ring the bell and sign in at the front desk on arrival. Dress code for the talk is Smart Casual (no jeans or trainers allowed). The bar opens at 1830. Non-members are also welcome to attend the in-person event free of charge. Supper tickets need to be booked in advance online via the LSC website. RIN Members are able to take advantage of the discounted members’ supper ticket, if booked in advance of the LSC cut-off date. Booking for this goes live about 6 weeks prior to the event. ONLINE EVENT RIN members wishing to join online should use the link, which will be circulated by email a week or so before the talk in January 2026. A copy of the poster for this event is available for download and onward promotion below.
