In preparation for the liberation of Kuwait, James Prain, an Army officer and chartered land surveyor then serving as a senior instructor at the Royal School of Military Survey, was tasked with providing the desert navigation training to troops about to deploy to Saudi Arabia. The talk will cover the requirement for training, the issues of desert navigation, the training, its delivery and the longer-term consequences. Pre-registration is mandatory, using the name on your photo-ID. Closing date 15th Jan. Photo ID will be required for entry. Refreshments will be available on arrival from about 1830.
