Perseid Meteor Shower

12 August 2018   (0 Comments)

The Perseid meteors can be seen from 17 July to 24 August, peaking on 12 August

The shower occurs when Earth passes through the path of Comet Swift-Tuttle, running into the stream of debris that the comet leaves behind. The meteors appear to emanate from the northern constellation Perseus.

The Perseids are best seen between ~0200 local time and dawn, but some will be visible from ~2100 local time. Viewing will be helped by there being a new Moon.
