Aries Anniversary

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) posted the following on 10 May:

'On This Day: (1945) A modified Lancaster B.1 Aries I (captain, Wg Cdr D.C.McKinley) of the Empire Air Navigation School (EANS) departed RAF Shawbury to fly to the North Geographic and North Magnetic Poles, staging through airfields in Iceland, Greenland and Canada. The crew of eleven returned to Shawbury on 26 May, having flown 19,965 miles in 109 hours 40 minutes' flying time.'
